IslamSwipe ("we", "our", or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use our mobile application.
When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple user ID and, optionally, your name and email address if you choose to share them. We also store your display name, username, bio, and profile photo that you voluntarily provide.
Guest users do not provide any personal information. A local anonymous session is created on your device. Guest data (preferences, dhikr sessions, goals) is stored locally and is not transmitted to our servers unless you later create an account.
We collect data about your activity within the App, including likes, saves, dhikr session counts, Quran reading progress, goals, follower/following relationships, and content preferences. This data is used to personalise your experience.
Subscription status is managed by Apple and RevenueCat. We do not store your payment information — all transactions are processed by Apple's App Store. We receive only your subscription status (active, expired, or trial) and the anonymous RevenueCat app user ID.
We collect anonymous device tokens for push notification delivery via Apple Push Notification Service. These tokens are used solely to send you reminders and motivational notifications. We do not collect device model, OS version, or IP address for tracking purposes.
If you are an approved creator, we collect and store video files, thumbnails, captions, hashtags, and category tags that you upload. Creator metadata such as creator bio, content style, and tier level is also stored.
Comments you post on content, reports you submit, and users you block are stored to enable social features and content moderation. Follower/following relationships are stored to deliver personalised feeds.
You can export a copy of your personal data at any time using the "Download My Data" option in Account Settings. The export is a JSON file containing your profile information (including subscription status, but never payment details), your activity history (dhikr sessions, goals, Quran reading progress, comments you have posted, reports you have submitted, accounts you follow and who follows you, and accounts you have blocked or muted), your preferences (content filters, struggles, custom dhikrs, your comment discussion preference, and notification settings), your uploaded posts if you are a creator, and your saved and liked content.
IslamSwipe does not collect:
We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or sell your data to third parties.
IslamSwipe operates a content moderation system for creator-submitted content. New creators' posts are placed in a review queue and must be manually approved before becoming visible to followers. Once a creator demonstrates consistent quality, they may be granted auto-publish privileges at our discretion.
We reserve the right to review, reject, remove, or restrict any content at any time without prior notice. Users can report content or other users that violate our standards using the in-app reporting feature. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours and appropriate action is taken, which may include content removal or account suspension.
We process your personal data under the following legal bases as defined by the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR):
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our servers, including:
Local data on your device (preferences, cached content) can be cleared manually from the Profile tab or by uninstalling the App.
Under applicable data protection laws, you have the following rights:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at islamswipeapp@gmail.com.
IslamSwipe is intended for users aged 13 and over, in line with our Terms of Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App's content is educational and religious in nature, and users under 18 should use the App with parental guidance. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS infrastructure) with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Local data such as preferences, dhikr sessions, and goals are stored on your device using standard iOS storage mechanisms. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including secure API communication, row-level security policies, and access controls.
Your data may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States (via AWS infrastructure used by Supabase) and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. Requests to our server endpoints are routed through Cloudflare's global edge network and may be processed at a location outside your country of residence; as stated in Section 3, your data is not stored there. Where data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including standard contractual clauses and adequacy decisions, to protect your personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
